Shomrei Torah Synagogue Steps Up for Children in Foster Care
Time & Location
About the Event
STS families can provide crucial transitional foster care to children caught in limbo:
When children are removed from a household due to neglect or abuse, they need love, care and shelter while DCFS creates a long-term plan. There is a huge shortage of stable, loving foster families to give this crucial transitional care. Without families like yours stepping up, children are sleeping in social workers' offices, or being moved from one new foster home to another every few days. STS, in partnership with Second Nurture, wants to help meet that need.
You can help a child:
Find some stability after the shock of being removed from their home;
Eat comforting, nourishing food;
Sleep in a safe and cozy environment;
Get to medical appointments that they may have needed for years
And you won’t do it alone. Your fellow STS foster families will be with you, the wider STS community and Second Nurture staff will support you, and the foster agency will guide you.
This interim time means a lot for a child's broken heart today and for their well-being in the future.
