Here’s a glimpse into our partner Host Communities who open their doors and hearts to local foster families. Most Host Communities are synagogues, but 2N itself  is nonsectarian and most Cohort families are not members of, nor culturally affiliated with, that of the HC.

HAMAKOM is our amazing 2N Host Community in Woodland Hills. When you come to HAMAKOM, you will be served a lunch prepared that morning by the rabbi and other volunteers from the community—including a professional chef! But of course being part of the 2N Cohort at HAMAKOM is way more than yummy food. Members of HAMAKOM also come to provide kids’ activities so you can meet with the other foster and fost-adopt parents who, themselves, are loving and attentive and look forward to welcoming new families like you.

This Cohort is led by 2N Family Support Specialist Rebekah Carveth. Rebekah finds great fulfillment and joy in educating, nurturing, mentoring, and assisting others with personal and professional development. She has partnered with several nonprofit organizations and educational systems to help drive positive change, empower lives, and build connections. 2N opened in Woodland Hills at the request of the LA County Department of Children and Family Services.

HAMAKOM is a synagogue. The name means "The Place” and derives from the biblical story of Jacob's dream in which he sees a ladder to Heaven and declares, “Surely God was in this place (“hamakom”) and I did not know it." “HAMAKOM” represents the understanding that a spiritual life begins with a sense of awe for all creation, and a willingness to find the extraordinary within the ordinary in order to feel connected to something greater than oneself.
